The Department benefits from extensive national and international collaboration, excellent facilities, and strong links with industry.

Research activity is currently centred around four broad areas: Aerodynamics and Environmental Flow, Automotive Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Structures and Materials. Chartered Engineer status would also be desirable.

The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze Award and is committed to equality of opportunity and the promotion of diversity for the benefit of all.
