On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is an honor to welcome you to the XXXVII Annual Congress of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (CASEIB2019), which will be held 27-29 November at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) in Santander. The conference is organized in collaboration by the University of Cantabria (UC) through the Applied Optical Techniques (TOA) group, the HUMV and the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB).
CASEIB2019 is the national reference forum for the exchange of scientific-technical knowledge, experiences and promotion of R + D + i in Biomedical Engineering. It is a meeting point for scientists, industry professionals, biomedical engineers and clinical practitioners who are interested in the latest advances in research, education and industrial and clinical application of Biomedical Engineering.
We hope to offer you a new edition of CASEIB with contributions of high scientific level in the following areas: Signal Processing, Image Processing, Biomedical Instrumentation, Telemedicine, e-Health, Systems Modeling, Intelligent Systems, Robotics, Surgical Simulation and Planning, Biophotonics and Biomaterials. There will be competitions for the José María Ferrero Corral Prize, and also for the students of the Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering. They both encourage the participation of young students and researchers.
We will also have the honor of listening to invited contributions of scientists of recognized prestige, both from the academia and the clinics, as well as workshops on clinical problems of Biomedical Engineering and technological innovation in the field. The deadline for submitting papers, either in extended abstract or article modalities, ends on 4 September 2019. The submission is made through the link available on the website www.caseib.es/2019. In addition, there is the possibility of sending an extended version to the indexed journal Entropy.
We would like this CASEIB to be fruitful for all the participants and hope they find in the beautiful and welcoming city of Santander, and in the beautiful and almost infinite (due to its possibilities) Cantabria (for example, with 10 prehistoric caves, World Heritage Site by Unesco), the ideal place to establish synergies that contribute to introduce and potentiate the use of new techniques and equipment for treatment and diagnosis in the clinics, in order to enable the future development of personalized and universal medicine.
