The Department of Mechanical Engineering Sciences at the University of Surrey is seeking to recruit five members of academic staff  to support a significant expansion of its research and teaching.

The Department benefits from extensive national and international collaboration, excellent facilities, and strong links with industry.

Research activity is currently centred around four broad areas: Aerodynamics and Environmental Flow, Automotive Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Structures and Materials. The appointees would be expected to have an appropriate engineering (or related discipline) background and to undertake high quality research in one of these areas of research.

The appointees will be expected to teach students on our undergraduate Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering programmes. These are well established programmes attracting large numbers of highly qualified students.  An ability and enthusiasm for delivering a high quality student experience is essential and experience in and enthusiasm for supervising design projects would be welcome. Chartered Engineer status would also be desirable.

Depending on experience, qualifications and research track record, appointments will be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.
